Mazarin Dauphinois desk in olive marquetry, Louis XIV period
Desk,
Louis XIV,
XVII
Mazarin desk adorned with beautiful olive marquetry opening with a large belt drawer simulating three. The central panel is framed by two boxes, each opening with two drawers.
The drawers have the originality of displaying an alternation of reserve patterns between stylized diamonds and hexagons.
The tray with sophisticated geometric patterns demonstrates particular application in its details, notably the contours of the main diamond passing alternately above and below the central rectangle.
The recessed uprights extend onto sheathed feet whose edge faces us and are connected by two curved X-shaped spacers.
This elegant piece is made of olive wood, ash, boxwood fillets and ebony framing the patterns, particularly the large diamonds on the side panels. These different species creating geometric patterns fit perfectly into the tradition of Dauphiné furniture and the famous productions of the Hache family.
