Based on the work of Antoine-Jean Gros exhibited at Versailles: Impressive full-length portrait of Claude-Victor Perrin, Napoleon's marshal.

Quickly distinguishing himself during the first Italian campaign, it was at the battle of Friedland against the Russian army of Tsar Alexander that he particularly distinguished himself. A few years later during the crossing of the Berezina, he once again demonstrated exemplary composure by resisting Russian attacks on foot in order to protect the difficult retreat of the Grande Armée. This oil on canvas taken in a wooden frame comes from the Château de Prat located in Ariège. Built in the 13th century, it was originally the home of the Counts of Comminges. This painting is part of an important series of four large portraits of personalities of the Empire commissioned by the former owner of the castle and in our possession: Maréchal Augereau, Maréchal Victor, Maréchal Sérurier and Charles-Maurice de Talleyrand.
