Chest of drawers, Louis XV, XVIII

Chest of drawers in rosewood marquetry opening with four drawers in two rows.

Elegantly curved on the front, it rests on four curved legs ending in chiseled bronze clogs with geometric shapes, pearls and acanthus leaves.

The sides with a complex “S” curve present a marquetry of diamonds.

The chest of drawers is topped with its formerly restored royal red marble.

Significant work has also been devoted to the bronzes. The keyholes are surmounted by a face. The handles of drooping draws to the valets are marked with the crowned C hallmark. The latter attests to a tax on metals intended to finance the Austrian wars. It allows us to place the chest of drawers between 1745 and 1749, a period during which the tax was in force.

Louis XV period, between 1745 and 1749.
