Solid walnut dresser in three parts richly decorated each with natural motifs, caryatides, chimerical characters, faces ...
It opens two side drawers under the overhanging cornice, two front panels and a large drawer decorated with flowery garlands. Presence of a hatch in the lower and upper part.

The uprights, sleepers and legs are largely carved in high relief of chimerical characters at the feet of Lion and women with legs finished by hooves.
The central vault opens with two leaves separated by a caryatid with goat's hooves and framed by grotesques with pointed ears and a nose turned up.
The side panels are finely chiselled with masks emerging from arabesques and foliage.

The cornice is highlighted with friezes and foliated garlands in incrusted paste (Scagliola).

The abundant and generous decorative repertoire taking root in Italian baroque, these exuberant Italianizing motifs being tempered by architecture and geometric decoration.
Here we find references, both in terms of structure and decorative elements to the creations of Hugues Sambin, having itself inspired by Italian artists.

Work of Renaissance period, second half of the sixteenth century.
Maintenance restoration on drawer interiors, door frames and raves feet.

Hugues Sambin is an artist of the French Renaissance, at the same time architect, decorator, carpenter engineer and designer, he was the designer of his time. The son of a carpenter, he participated, among the carpenters' team, in the work of the Château de Fontainebleau where he was trained in the French Mannerist style. He is at the head of an important carpentry workshop. He places the furniture he makes in the new houses he makes.
The town of Dijon ordered three statues for the entrance of the Duke of Aumale in 1550. He finished the sculpture of the Last Judgment of the central portico of the Church of Saint Michael in Dijon. In 1564, he was superintendent and conductor of the work carried out for the reception of King Charles IX in Dijon
